feeling like you've sensed the narcissist's presence. And I mean, you say things like, "No, I feel that he's really there. I sense that he does have an inner child. I did get in touch with it." You might say things like, "Um, he was really apologetic before. Uh, he really loved me." Things like this. You
might say, "I saw reality dawn upon his face. Even if for a flash, I saw that he's real and he could tell what's real." Um, like the the first thing you need to know about that is the narcissist is capable of becoming aware of basically how ruinous he is. Something's up with him. He is capable of that. Reality, in
other words, can dawn upon him. But again, because of the mountain of realizations that will follow on the foot of that first dawning reality, the narcissist is very strongly compelled to just jump back into the defensive fantasy. And as long as anyone almost will allow him to do that, will buy into it, will continue relating with him, if
he can stay in the fantasy, then that's what he's going to do. And that includes things like saying sorry. That includes things like fessing up, shedding some tears. Not even that the tears are fake, but that the narcissist might be grieving as much as he has to in order to get back into the fantasy. That might
look like the narcissist taking accountability. that might look like. It really comes down to like are you willing to spend your life dedicating your time and attention to someone who being a person is like pulling teeth? Are you willing to do that? I I think the answer has to be no. You know, it's up to you. Unless this
person is capable of realizing it himself and working with you on that, not for the purpose of becoming a person that he would ever become a person. He's not going to. You don't heal narcissism. He can grieve who he would have been, who he should have been. He can grieve the impact that all of this has had on
