Today, I want to have an honest conversation with you about what's going on in the clipping space right now that's keeping people stuck. And I'm not talking about these cliche reasons like you need to do more work or you need to do more outreach. I'm talking about the fundamentals behind this freelance clipping model that are stopping you

from ever reaching your financial goals. And I personally had to realize this not too long ago when I couldn't get past $4,500 a month as a freelance clipper. And I tried everything, but nothing worked because of the fact that this model of freelance clipping had a hard ceiling to it that no amount of hustle

is going to break. The craziest part is that last month I passed $16,000 in profit all because I identified the problems, found a way to move past them, and put in the work to make this work without pivoting to a completely different industry. So, today in this video, I want to break down exactly what

those problems are and why they are keeping you from reaching your goals in the clipping space. So, now if you're currently clipping four campaigns, this first problem is probably going to be the most personal one for you. And unfortunately, it's not even something that you can realize while you're inside clipping four campaigns. This is

something that is only visible when you take a step back and understand how campaigns are structured to actually [music] get you paid. The majority of clippers who first start out think that the model is pretty straightforward, right? You post clips, you get views, and you get paid. But the reality of how this math actually adds up is never

talked about within this industry and for good reason. So, let's talk about how campaigns actually work, right? Every campaign pays anywhere between 50 cents maybe up to like $2 per thousand views, but you can never actually figure out how much you're going to take home based off of these numbers because every single campaign has a minimum view

threshold that you need to hit before even seeing a single dollar. And if you miss this threshold, this view minimum, you'll never see a dollar for the work that you put in. And the problem gets even bigger when you realize that 60 to 70% of these clips going out into these campaigns don't even hit that minimum

view threshold. This means that majority of the work that you're doing for these campaigns are just completely unpaid labor. So, the clips that do perform have to carry the weight of all the other work that you did that was unpaid. All those clips that you made that didn't hit that minimum view threshold.

This means that the effective rate per clip, when you account for all the work that you did that was unpaid, is a fraction of what is actually advertised in those RPMs of 50 cents to maybe $2 per 1,000 views because all those views that are under that threshold are completely unpaid. Now, the part that a

lot of people might take some time to actually accept and honestly, I had to take some time to accept this is the fact that this feature of, you know, the structure of payments through campaigns is not just an accident. This is actually designed intentionally. These campaigns are structured by creators who want to get as many clips posted as

possible with as little spend as possible. So, this threshold system makes sure that the creators are only paying for the clips that perform and still getting thousands of clips posted for completely free. This means that the clippers who are clipping for these campaigns are absorbing all the risk involved with it. And it gets even

deeper when you realize that the way these campaigns are structured to pay clippers create this psychological trap that's just as damaging as the financial one. When you're constantly posting clips and sometimes hitting that view threshold or even getting a viral clip, you feel like the results that you're getting in terms of payment are

connected to your effort. On a good month, you might make $2,000 for one single campaign, but on a bad month, maybe $500. And the natural conclusion in your head is that you just need to make more clips, find better hooks, or find the next viral trending style. But this inconsistency is not tied to your

effort. These are variables that are completely outside of your control. Algorithm shifts, platform crackdowns, we just saw hundreds of clip accounts get completely banned on TikTok. And this is not even to mention the budget control by the campaign managers as well as how many clippers are working on the same campaign as you. So, while you're

here optimizing your output, trying to figure out the best trending styles to edit the clips in, how to make more clips, how to find better campaigns, the actual variables that are controlling your income are somewhere else entirely. So, realistically, no amount of effort on your end is going to change that ceiling that you're facing. I even

worked for campaigns myself and I genuinely believe for a long time that I was going to make something happen working for campaigns. I was growing multiple accounts to over 10,000 followers. I was getting several viral videos, and every good week felt like the breakthrough was coming. Unfortunately, what I could not see is

that this model has a ceiling that is not controlled by your skill or your output. It is set by the structure of the deal, and as long as you are working for these campaigns, you will never control the structure of that deal. And most clippers eventually figure out this ceiling when it comes to campaign

clipping, and they move on to the next logical thing, which is finding private clients to close deals with. And this is a real step forward. But, the market that they move into when they make this shift has a problem of its own, and it's just as structural, it's just very hard to see from the outside. So, let's say

you make this move, right? You get off campaigns, you have private clients paying you monthly retainers, and everything feels stable, you're making more money than campaigns have ever produced for you. And there's also a wall within this model, and unlike clipping for campaigns, this problem doesn't get a little bit better when you

do more work, get more clients, and produce more clips, it actually gets worse. So, when your income is now directly tied to how many clips you are producing, and you're the only one doing the work, your revenue is directly tied to only one input, which is your time. And time is limited in a way that no

other business resource is. There are only so many clips that one person can make in a single month, and only so many clients that you can manage by yourself while still delivering quality work. And at some point, usually around $2,000 to $5,000 per month, the hours run out, and your income is still not where you want

it to be. I personally hit this wall at about $4,500 a month, but I want to be very specific about what this felt like because I feel like most freelance clippers that actually hit this don't recognize it for what it is. It did not feel like failure. It felt like I was busy. I had clients, I had work coming

in, I was delivering results, but that number would not move no matter what I did. So, I did what my freelance brain told me to do. Try to work more, figure out a way to charge a little bit more, how can you get better quality clients, how can you produce more clips out of

shorter amount of time? But, my income ceiling still did not move. I was at the limit of what that model could produce according to the hours that I had available. And I eventually sat down and actually did the math. I wanted to see what a $10,000 month would look like if I was continuing with the model that I

was running. And the answer was a version of my working day that just was completely impossible. But thankfully, this calculation made something very, very clear to me. This ceiling was again something that I could not push through with just more effort because it was built into the model itself. And this problem goes both for campaign model and

freelance model. Even if you found a way to make both pay better, you are still limited by time. You still always hit this ceiling. So, the conclusion for these two issues that we just went over is that if your income is directly tied to your personal output, this ceiling will follow you no matter where you go.

And this is what brings us to the root cause behind all of it. You see, clipping in this market right now is a commodity. It's not because you don't have value. It's not because you aren't skilled. It's because of the fact that the way these clipping packages are sold gives the client no real ability to

differentiate one clipper from the other. They see portfolios that pretty much all look the same. They see your promises that again look the same as the other clipper. And they see rates that vary with no real explanation. This makes the price the only decision maker for these clients. Whoever has the cheapest clips, that's who they're going

to go with. And this is why those two previous problems are so hard to move past in the freelance model. Campaign managers and the clients that you're going to be closing as a freelancer treat you as interchangeable. And as long as you're interchangeable, you're going to get paid commodity rates. And as soon as they find somebody cheaper,

they're going to switch up on you. And the ceiling that we talked about only exists because when you're working in the commodity market, the only way to earn more is to produce more. And this is capped by your own time. So, every structural problem with campaign clipping and freelance clipping goes back to this root cause, which is the

fact that it's a commodity. And when price is your only lever, you're in a race straight to the bottom. And the damage that this does to clippers over time is something that a lot of us have already felt, but we can't really explain. It's that feeling that you're constantly improving, right? You're getting better at your hooks. You're

getting better at the actual editing style. You're finding better captions to make. You're getting better at doing market research and finding viral editing styles to copy. But at the end of the day, you're watching all this improvement and it leads to absolutely no change in what clients are willing to pay you. And I felt this directly

because over time, I was getting better at clipping, but the rates that I could actually close deals for was never really increasing. And this isn't really because the market couldn't value good clips, but it's because of the fact that it wasn't too hard to make a good clip and there was no way for the client to

tell that I was going to make better clips from the next person or the hundreds of clippers in their DMs. So, the client's decision always came down to price and in a market of this size, competing for price is always a losing position no matter how good you are. So, this is the problem that better

campaigns, [music] higher quality private clients, and better execution never really solve because of the fact that you're all offering the same thing. Everything covered in this video comes down to the exact same conclusion. All these problems that keep clippers stuck and keep them under this ceiling are structural problems that are built into

this freelance model itself. And structural problems by definition do not get solved by you just working hard within that same structure. They get solved by altering the structure completely. So, the clippers who actually broke through this ceiling, including myself, did it by moving from a commodity service priced on output to a system priced on outcomes. From

trading time for money to running an operation that gets results for your clients without you having to make every single edit. That shift is exactly what's going to remove those two issues without you having to pivot to a completely different industry because I promise there is so much potential for you in the clipping space. You just need

to stop following the same structure that everybody else is.
