Um so yeah my name is Annas Him uh I am a research lead in the effect team welcome and today I will tell you a little bit about the funding opportunities at welcome. So for those of us who um for those of you who don't know us welcome is a financially and politically independent global
charitable organization. Our vision is a healthier future for everyone. uh and we do this through our mission of supporting science to solve urgent health challenges facing uh everyone. Um so we have two major modes of uh for strategy uh discovery and solutions. So the discovery mode uh enables people to ask questions about life, health and
well-being and as the name suggests um it focuses on basic biology about human health and we have different teams that um are under discovery those are welcome collection discovery research and welcome leave and later on I will be talking about the discovery research team and their funding opportunities. On the other hand, we have the solutions
mode uh who which is focusing on urgent health challenges where there is an im you know funding studies where we can see immediate impact um and the teams that follow that are under solutions are climate and health infectious diseases and mental health and I sit in the infectious disease team and I will also
talk a little bit later on about the funding opportunities within um solutions and infectious disease. So first of all a little bit about discovery research funding schemes. So discovery research has really simplified their funding modes into three buckets. Early career awards, career development awards and discovery awards. And as the name suggests the early career awards
