Imagine someone offers you two envelopes today. The first envelope contains €10,000 immediately deposited into your account. The second envelope contained a whole free month, fully paid for, with no obligation whatsoever. Oh, that's a really difficult decision. Wait, it gets even better. You must decide immediately. No time to think it over. To be quite honest, my hand would
probably reach for the money first, automatically, almost without thinking. And that's exactly what's interesting, because when you ask people later, many years later, what they would have wished for most, most say more time, not more money. That's correct. At the end of their lives, people rarely regret not having worked enough , but very often regret not having spent enough time with
their family. And yet, every single day, we make decisions that go in exactly the opposite direction. More overtime for more money, less free time for more prosperity. Why, actually? Why do we so often choose money, even though we know that time might be more valuable? We will be examining this very exciting question in detail today.
Welcome back to everyday German life. I'm Samy. And I am Rema. After comparing accessibility, social media, and stress, we come today to a very fundamental question. Money or time? What is actually more important? Samy, honestly, when you think about your own week, what do you prefer to sacrifice your time for? For more money or for
more free time. [laughter] Good question. I think I often tell myself that I'll have more free time later , once I've earned enough , but somehow later never comes. I know that feeling all too well. My situation is similar, especially with overtime. I always think, "Just this one more time, then I'll do less."
