Smart Enemy AI | (Part 11: Group Enemy Combat) | Tutorial in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5)

[Music] welcome back everyone to part 11 of our smart enemy AI series and uh I'm really excited about this part uh because we're going to be tackling uh a topic that uh a lot of people requested and is very interesting to me uh which is uh group enemy attacks or multiple enemies attacking you at the same time and uh

how they coordinate their attacks so let me show you what this is going to look like uh now I have uh two ranged enemies and one uh sorry and three melee enemies trying to attack me and as you can see I'm only getting attacked by one at a time now and they take turns and um uh each enemy waits

for the other one before attacking so that's of course not all of them are attacking at the same time um now we're going to be using a um the same or similar system that uh Doom the game Doom uses uh which is based off of tokens so right now I set the token

amount for my player to be one that means only one enemy can be attacking me at the same time so if I change this token count to two then two enemies can be attacking me at the same time so as you can see two enemies are attacking uh and of course it could be one ranged one melee um just

any any two enemies so you can see here two range were attacking at the same time now it's two melee and uh and so on um so the way the way this system works is that uh the player has a U or any damageable actor has a finite number of tokens and before you attacked uh the

attacker has to take a token from you so if you don't have any tokens left you can't be attacked so this way uh the enemies are sort of communicating together now we can expand on this system and have like Doom does have um enemies with higher priority steal tokens from each other or give tokens to
