So, it's usually pretty easy to look at the things that the narcissist has taken from you. Things like your confidence, your boundaries, or your ability to trust. And all of that is true. But, they also gave you a road map to exactly the ways in which you may have been holding yourself back. So, every

insecurity of yours that they attacked, or every strength that they made you feel bad about, that was the narcissist pointing directly at things that you may have suppressed in yourself. It's kind of like they ran a diagnostic on your power, whether they meant to or not. And most people threw that map away

because it came from someone who hurt them. They want nothing to do with any of that. But, there's more value in it than you might think. So, let's take a look at that map today. My name is Christina, and on this channel we talk about toxic relationships and how to become stronger on the other side.

So, let's be real. Understanding the pattern and integrating the wound are two very different things. You could see how the manipulation worked, and you could recognize the tactics. You can even help other people spot the signs. And you can do all of that and still be dimming yourself around certain people. You could still be leading with

self-deprecation when you share good news, or feeling that specific sting when someone openly carries qualities that you wish you could. And that's not because you haven't healed enough. That's because the narcissist accidentally exposed a precise map of your golden shadow. And if you don't know what that is, I suggest you go back and watch part one

of this series. Right now, you've landed at part three. And what you're left with here is a map that most people never really learn how to read. So, what we're really talking about today is shadow integration. And before you think that this might be some abstract theory, it's probably the most practical thing you

can do to become completely immune to this kind of manipulation. So, let's talk about what happened here. Every quality that they systematically attacked was not a random thing. So, think about the intersection between what they criticized in you and who they triangulated you with. Maybe it was a confident friend that they always

brought up to make you feel insecure. Or a successful colleague that they used as a comparison. Maybe it was an ex who was supposedly so much more assertive than you or more something. Fill in the blank. That intersection is no coincidence. You can look at it as a diagnostics. So, to be clear, the narcissist does not attack

your integrated qualities. They don't attack the things that you are genuinely comfortable with about yourself. They go after the qualities that you have in one way or another, for better or for worse, disowned. Maybe the ones that you admire in others, but you tell yourself that you could never pull that off. Or the

traits that you've convinced yourself are somehow not you. And let me tell you, a narcissist can identify identify these things about you from across the room. And it's not because they're particularly smart, either. It's because the unintegrated shadow material broadcasts a specific frequency. So, it shows up as a slight flinch when someone

else maybe shows the qualities that you covet and shows them openly and proudly. And it shows up in the way that you might think, I could never do that when you see someone being unapologetically themselves or maybe direct or just super successful at something. So when they criticized you for being too quiet and then spent months talking

about how magnetic their ex was they weren't just trying to hurt you. They were identifying exactly the characteristic that you felt you could not claim. So when they called you boring and triangulated you with someone who was spontaneous and exciting they were running a scan on your disowned spontaneity. And when they told you that you were too

sensitive and then they praised someone else for being super in control of their emotions they found your suppressed emotional authority. And that specific sting that comes along with feeling that was not evidence that they were right about you and that somehow these things that you not having these characteristics or that you having

opposite characteristics means that you somehow are worthless. Not evidence of that at all. It is evidence that you've already rejected that quality in yourself before the narcissist ever showed up. Unless of course it is a parent or an early caregiver who probably implanted that belief in you. But nevertheless, wherever it came from, the pain outlasts

the relationship. The pain doesn't care if you go no contact because somewhere along the way you've installed someone else's program and continually tell yourself that you are not that person or who do you think you are? You cannot show confidence. For whatever reason you decided it was unsafe and so now this program runs to stop you whenever you're

entering that unsafe territory. And if you're thinking, "Okay, well, that makes sense, but I don't really know if I'm doing that." You can test it yourself. So, notice what happens when you're around people who openly embody the qualities that you wish you can claim. Do you feel genuinely neutral, or do you feel like a little bit of a sting, like

an automatic comparison, or an impulse to make yourself smaller, or to prove yourself in some way? So, two opposite things. Maybe you shrink and let that person be larger, or maybe you try to make yourself larger because you feel like you should be that thing that you're not. If you're feeling in any way

the urge to make yourself smaller or make yourself bigger to prove something, you're still carrying around that same wound that made you vulnerable to the narcissist in the first place, and this is the wound that a narcissist will see from across the room. And in order to fix this, everyone will tell you to work

on your confidence, to set better boundaries, and to learn to spot the red flags. But, none of that addresses the core mechanism here because as long as you're disowning parts of yourself, you're going to be vulnerable to people who weaponize those exact qualities. So, there's a concept in Youngian psychology called enantiodromia, the principle that

anything pushed to an extreme will eventually transform into its opposite. So, when psychological energy gets compressed under enough pressure, do you think it just goes poof and disappears? No, it becomes more available. And the narcissist, without even meaning to sometimes, puts enormous pressure on every quality that you've suppressed. And when I say not meaning to, I mean is

that sometimes this manipulation comes very naturally to people like this. So, every time they've criticized you for being too much of something or not enough of something else, they've been applying pressure to the exact thing that you've been avoiding. The thing that is painful for you to face. So, the campaign they ran against your

confidence, for example, was actually evidence that your unintegrated confidence was threatening enough that they had to systematically attack it. Now, think about that for a second. So, if you have this unintegrated confidence, or whatever the characteristic is that just kind of peaks through sometimes, what they're seeing is just glimmers of your true

potential. And they find it threatening enough that they're going to directly criticize it and make sure that you squash it and suppress it further. And confidence was just an example. Whatever it is, whatever that characteristic is within you, the glimmers that they saw when it was coming through was enough to make them threatened.

So, think about that for a moment and absolutely directly relate this to how powerful you actually are. And think about when you fully integrate all of these parts of yourself that had been repressed or suppressed throughout the years, how powerful can you actually be? So, if we look at all of this from the

lens of how a narcissist manipulates people, it's very clear that people who have integrated all or most of these previously repressed or suppressed parts are almost impossible to control. Because someone who's genuinely comfortable with their own power does not flinch when other people display power. And someone who's claimed their own emotional authority doesn't get

triggered by people who express their feelings directly. So, the narcissist could see exactly what you hadn't integrated yet. And so, they made it their mission to make sure that you would never integrate it. Because if you did, you would become powerful in a way that they never could. And they never could because they don't have the kind of

self-awareness that they would need in order to integrate those parts. And we talked about that in part one of this series about how that works. So, if you missed that, definitely go back and rewatch that part. But ultimately, they convinced you that those qualities of yours were either not you or somehow wrong for you to want or maybe both.

But the pressure they applied didn't destroy those qualities, which is the amazing thing. It made them more concentrated and more ready for you to claim them. Which means that their entire campaign was unintentionally a deep field map of exactly what threatened their false self. And what threatens a narcissist's false self is always your unexpressed power.

So, here's the integration work. And this is not about affirmations or deciding to be more confident. Those things have a time and a place, and they can absolutely be helpful. But this right here is about identifying the specific quality that sits at the intersection of their attacks and their triangulations. And then doing the uncomfortable work of

actually trying to invite that back in. And you can start by getting specific. So, saying something like, "Well, they attacked my confidence" is good, but it's general. So, what exact quality did they go after? Was it your directness? Was it anytime you spoke up for yourself? Or maybe it was your ability to take up space. Whenever you claimed

your space in the room, or maybe it was your success. If you succeeded in something, did they feel the need to immediately knock you down? Look at exactly what they criticized in you. What seemed to trigger them most? And what they praised in people that they triangulated against you. So, that intersection is your golden

shadow material right there. You'll know when you've identified the right quality because picturing yourself fully embodying it will genuinely feel dangerous. And it might feel a mix of exciting dangerous and dangerous in the way that you might start to repel some of the people that you've surrounded yourself with. Dangerous like it might

be too much, or it might threaten all of the relationships and arrangements that have kept you small so far. So, if it's a mix of excitement and outright fear, that's definitely something worth taking a look at. And really dig into where that fear is coming from. Is it valid? Is it justified? Is it actually safe for

you to do this? But, please do understand that just because there is fear doesn't mean that it's not worth doing. Because integration is not a gentle process. It's claiming the exact quality that you've been rejecting and discovering that you can survive other people's discomfort with it. So, one of the first things when you start doing

this is not going to be other people's discomfort, it's going to be your own discomfort. And you might feel uncomfortable with having that level of visibility or potentially threatening people who've gotten used to you playing it small. But, underneath all of that discomfort that you're feeling is the recognition that this quality was always

there and it was always yours to claim. You just learned to hide it so well that even you forgot it was there. And so, you start catching yourself when you're looking externally to compare yourself to others because those are things that you can use as data, right? Why am I comparing myself to this person? Or why

does it hurt when someone else compares me to them? Is this part of a golden shadow, the positive traits that I have repressed? Maybe it's part of a darker shadow. Maybe it's some of the negative traits that I have repressed. And then you get to go through the process of integrating those traits and allowing

yourself to be okay with all the good and the bad and the ugly and loving yourself through it. I know that sounds really easy, but loving yourself is probably one of the hardest things that we can do in this life. But ultimately, if there's one thing you can take away from this video, I hope that it's the

permission to start looking at all the parts of yourself and accepting them for what they are. And especially if there are positive traits that you have been holding back, let those shine. Give yourself the permission to let those out. And in whatever way feels right for you, to take baby steps towards claiming

whatever it is that was suppressed for so long. This is something that definitely falls under the category of easier said than done, but when you can start looking at these little digs and stings, the things that they say or do that kind of sting within you, just as data, and start digging into why it hurts and

what part of you needs to be integrated, then you become much much more powerful than the narcissist. So powerful, in fact, that they can't touch you. So when you could learn to integrate, or at the very least get curious about the qualities that they're attacking, you don't just heal from the pain of that

relationship, you become immune to anyone who tries to use that same playbook on you. And you're not becoming someone different at all. You're becoming who you actually are when you're not rejecting parts of yourself to keep other people comfortable. And so I hope that this series was helpful to you in some way. If so,
