What would happen if you took creatine every single day for 30 days if your age is over 50? Most people think creatine is a bodybuilding powder. It does a lot more. In fact, it's a vital compound that your body actually makes. The problem is as we get older, it makes a lot less. But I think we need to start
at the basics. What does creatine actually do in the body? Cuz it's actually really, really interesting. Let's start with number one. In your cells, you have energy factories. They're called mitochondria. And mitochondria make energy in the form of ATP. ATP has three phosphates. So this energy in this ATP, which is like a
charged battery, when you break off the phosphate, that's when you actually can use the energy. And then this changes into ADP. And in this phase of energy, we only have two of the phosphates. One of the purposes of creatine is to give you quick energy by giving this dead battery an extra phosphate. And as far as quick
energy, I'm talking about the explosive, quick, fast, peak power that you use when you run up a hill or you're sprinting somewhere. So it's a different system of energy that you can use, but it only lasts like 5 to 10 seconds. And then your body will start tapping into glucose because in order to use glucose,
it usually takes between 15 and 30 seconds for that system to kind of kick in where you can start using that. And then eventually, within minutes after that, maybe even 20 to 30 minutes, then you're into the fat burning. So we have different fuels for different endurances. Number two reason why we need creatine is anything involving high
energy demand tissue. Like for example, your brain requires creatine. Your skeletal muscles require creatine. The liver, the kidneys. Also, creatine helps you pull in a bit more water to hydrate the muscles. So that could show up as you gaining an extra one or two pounds of weight, but it's not fat. It's just
