A Terra Sem Humanos — Do Primeiro Dia aos 10.000 Anos de Abandono

Something impossible happened today. There was no war, no explosions, no warning whatsoever. In a single silent instant, all human beings vanished from the Earth. Cars remain stopped in the streets. Airplanes still crisscross the skies. The machines continue to play [music] exactly as before, but there is no one left to guide, maintain, or

control them. For a few minutes, almost nothing seems different. The wind is still blowing between the buildings. The waves continue to break on the beaches. The forests remain silent, as they always have been. But human civilization is a delicate system. Entire cities depend on billions of small daily actions. Buttons being pressed, [music] valves being opened, engines

being adjusted. Without people, [music] this system begins to fall apart almost immediately. Energy, transportation, water, communications, everything was built [music] to function under constant supervision. Without it, the human world [music] slowly begins to grind to a halt. Meanwhile, nature watches in silence. Over the next few hours, days, centuries, and millennia, the planet will begin a

profound transformation. Roads will disappear, cities will crumble, and the ecosystems that existed long before humanity will begin to reoccupy every abandoned space. This is an impossible [music] experiment , but scientifically plausible. A question that has intrigued biologists, geologists, engineers [music] and climatologists for decades. What would happen to Earth if humans simply disappeared?

This [song] is the story of Earth after us.
