Generator Earthing Types - TN-S or IT?

hello i'm jw this time we're going to have a look at generators and specifically how you would actually connect those and what sort of earthing system you would use now two kinds of generators really there's the small types of things like inverters and also those little suitcase type generators those are generally an

isolated arrangement and then there's the larger ones which generate petrol diesel powered or whatever and those are typically tns but let's start by having a look at a smaller system and what sort of connections you might have with that now inverters like this one fairly handy just to provide a bit of power in case

of power failure or if you're somewhere where there isn't any main electricity this is fairly typical example this is a 600 watt model a 12 volt input and it's a pure sine wave inverter if you're going to buy one of these get one of the pure sine wave versions because the other kind which is a

modified sine wave base the output is horrendous and is riddled with distortion and if you plug anything electronic into it there's likely going to be a load of problems so these cost slightly more but just get the pure sine wave inverter because then you can use it with pretty much anything certain types of

gas boiler accepted and very simple to use basically just shove these on your battery terminals positive negative and then the 12 volt goes in or 24 if you've got a bigger battery and then we've got their 230 volts ac socket on the end this also has a usb thing as well for whatever reason

now the key thing with these is that they're only designed to supply basically one item of equipment hence their fairly low power rating 600 watts and there's only a single socket on here and the reason for this is because the output here is what's called it as in isolated from the earth so just like you've had
