Clear water, fresh air, green mountains, for a long time. [music] This is the home of the indigenous Ata people. But in an instant, everything changed. The former paradise still has a
well-maintained road going up to Sitio Tibag Subik, Zambales. The natives here live a simple life . Far from luxury but close to nature. That's a beautiful place, ma'am. We are raiding there. In fact, in my life, ma'am, that's where we rest when we get tired before we go up there to our cabin.
That's where we camp and that's where we sleep.
Erlinda is referring to a hill in the middle of the forest. We paved the way to this place. For a long time, this forest served as the home and livelihood of the Aita people here in Sitio Tibag, Barangay Naugsol in Zambales. They plant many trees here. Here they get a variety of food.
But 7 years ago, the local government came in and built a road for them. The people thought this road was beautiful. They can unload their goods more easily. But the local government had other plans for why they built this road.
[music] While walking, I noticed some trash scattered on the side of the road. There's a slight smell from here. Oh my God. Oh my god. Besides, there are a lot of flies. We're almost at the end of the road . Or the end of the road. And as we get closer to the end of the
road, the trash gets more and more. The smell is getting more pungent and the flies are increasing. Or that we have reached the end of the road.
