Google may be rejecting your review replies, and you probably have absolutely no idea. My colleague Michael, who is the co-founder of GMB API, analyzed over 12,000 rejected review replies. And what they found is pretty wild. Over 92% of the rejected replies were to five-star reviews. And here's the scary part. In many cases,
the business owner had no idea that the review responses were rejected. There's no obvious notification, there's no error message. It can actually look like you replied successfully, while the reply itself is sitting in a rejected state. Then, there's the AI problem. Almost 70% of the rejected replies contain some sort of AI boilerplate
response, like "Thrilled to hear." or "Your kind words." or "Look forward to welcoming you back." Google appears to be getting much better at recognizing these patterns. But, it gets even stranger. Google can reject perfectly legitimate words because they're matching patterns and not understanding context. So, if you are using AI to reply to all your Google reviews, please
don't just generate and hit publish. Make those replies unique and actually relevant to the person who left the review. Huge shout-out to Michael from GMB API and all the team for putting together this awesome research.
