I am a research professor at the National University of Córdoba and currently also serve as director of the IC, the Institute for Research and Training of Educators of the Province of Córdoba. We are interested in celebrating the enactment of the foundational law of the Argentine educational system,

Law 1420, the first Law of Free, Common, and Compulsory Public Education. We are 140 years on from the enactment of a law that promoted the role of the state as guarantor of the right to education in our country. [Music] Law 1420 represents the culmination of a heterogeneous process through which the Argentine educational system was configured

in a dual manner with two main characteristics. One of them has to do with a primary introduction system of a Massive, common, compulsory, and free education, and on the other hand, a schooling model that we know today as secondary school, which originated in what are known as national schools, and which had an elitist function in relation to the
