further ado let's get into the review b1 conduct preference assessments preference assessments are done to find which objects or activities a learner has a higher preference for hence the term preference assessments it's important to know that preferences shift over time and can vary by settings so it's important to do these regularly recall that reinforcers are something

you present after a behavior occurs which makes the behavior more likely to occur in the future as I made another video detailing more about reinforcement and Punishment right up here but a preference assessment gives you an idea of what could possibly work as a reinforcer but it's not considered a reinforcer until after it is shown to

increase the behavior so three ways to perform a preference assessment you can ask you can free operant or it could be trial based so asked is exactly what it sounds like you either ask the individual or ask a significant other someone who knows the person well to list off different items that they
