I Made a Bet with Tesla

Okay, some of you may remember a year or so ago, I made a bet. I attended this little event from Tesla where they unveiled their little golden new vehicle called the Cybercab. It was a two-seater... with butterfly doors, no steering wheels, no pedals, no charge port. It would be simply a robotaxi that can join a fleet and self-drive all over

the place and shuttle people around and give people rides all day, making the owner money. And that sounds great, honestly! like if the tech... is good enough. That's a big if. But if the tech is actually good enough, theoretically full self-driving is solved, then, I like the idea of just hopping in a ride.

There's no driver and it just takes me places. I've taken Waymos before. They're also great. Anyway, in that video, which I'll link below the Like button, if you haven't already watched it for a little refresher. But in that video, I made a little bet and that little clip of me making that bet

kind of turned into a bit of a meme. I mean, this is notorious Elon stuff. He gets on stage, he says, we're gonna have this vehicle out... for $30,000... before 2027. No, they're not. There's just no way that they're actually going to be able to do that. I mean, if they, if they do, let's say they do,

I will shave my head on camera because I'm that confident they won't do it. So, yeah, the bet is, it's simple. It's that the promise that they made on stage will not happen. That golden... robotaxi with two seats... and no driver and no steering wheel and no pedals will not ship to regular people like you and me for $30,000

before the end of this year. And I said I'd shave my head if they do. I'm so confident they won't do it. Cue the memes. Basically, anytime anyone ever sees a Cybercab in public... or some progress gets announced, there's some AI slop posts with me bald or getting my head shaved or something like that...
