hello I'm Dr Suma from the Department of Life Sciences welcome you all to this session on climate change how vulnerable are we to climate change what are the impacts of this on varied life forms on this planet and how best we can adapt to climate change these are some pertinent questions we tried to answer in this

session Once Upon a Time our planet Earth was a very hostile place filled with lot of noxious gases and no oxygen at all with the evolution of photosynthetic bacteria slowly our atmosphere started getting filled with oxygen this led to evolution of all the diverse flora and fona on this Earth a stable climatic pattern is required for

the sustainance of all the species but sadly a beautiful planet is on the verge of grave danger anthropogenic activities have led to tremendous changes in our oceans land masses and the atmosphere if if we continue such unsustainable activities very soon many species will totally disappear from this Earth and any imbalance in any species in an

ecosystem will soon lead to its crumbling let's see what are the impacts of climate change the North and South Poles of planet Earth are gigantic ice caps they have acted like air conditioners for the past millions of years cooling our planet they have helped in maintaining the seasonal temperatures establish ocean currents wind directions and onson

patterns any disturbance in the poles will definitely have its Rippling effect elsewhere in the globe sadly our entire Arctic region has become a huge commercial hub these days many countries eye on the huge oil reserves in the ocean beds of the North Pole as of now the Antarctic region in the South Pole
