Okay. So, um good morning everyone. Um uh today uh we are going to be talking about um uh basic structural organization of the nervous system um uh the neurons, the soma, the neurites, the centralization and even the tent centralization. Okay. So um uh in this lecture we are going to discuss the basic structural organization of the uh
central nervous system. The nervous system in generally uh the nervous system is one of the most complex system uh in the human body that enables us to detect changes in our environment. Uh okay. to uh interpret um sensory information, produce appropriate responses, control movement and uh regulate internal organs. Now to understand how the nervous system
performs this function, we must first understand how it is structurally organized. So in this lecture we will focus on three major concepts. the neuron uh which is particularly the sum and neurites uh the centralization of the nal system and then the delensalization. So let us begin with the basic structural unit of the nervous system
the neuron. Now the neuron is in the is actually the fundamental structural and functional unit of the nervous system. In simple terms you can say a neuron is a specialized cell that is capable of receiving processing and even transmitting information. Now although uh neurons defer considerably uh in their size their shape and
function uh most neurons have three basic components. The cell body or what we call the sum, the dendrites and the egg zone. Okay. Now the dendrites and exisonons are collectively referred to as the neuritrites. Uh so therefore we can broadly divide the neuron into soma and neurites. So where the neurites consist mainly of dendrites and of
