Good evening. This video is about a text that Andrea Torrano and I wrote called "Reconstruction of the Monster in Michel Foucault's Archaeology of Anomaly." In this work, we reconstruct the concept of the monster by applying a methodology derived from Cassirer. We begin by asking ourselves the following question: Why could a tyrant, a

libertine, a rebellious people, a revolutionary, and a common criminal at one time be called monsters? That is to say, we have a series of distinct elements that have been called monsters. How is it that such different things as a tyrant, a rebellious people, a revolutionary, and a criminal have been brought together in the same conceptual space?

So, throughout this work, we will see different proximityes, different juxtapositions that result precisely from dissimilar conceptual operations. The term, in this example we see here, is interesting because the term is the same—monster, yes—but the operations it performs in different eras are different, and that is what gives us the basis to say that they are, in
