Good morning, [music] people of God, God's sons and daughters. This is the day that the Lord has made and we're going to rejoice. We're going to be glad in it. I am Dr. Karen Rigggins. I'm a GI [music] medical oncologist and I am your designated intercessor. This is where we share [snorts] time and space with God, where

there is an open heaven above us. And we are [music] praying specifically for cancer fighters, cancer survivors, and their caregivers. One of the side [music] effects of cancer diagnosis is that your emotions [music] can rage. One of the emotions that we rarely deal with is the feeling of bitterness. As [music] believers in Christ, we don't talk about

the fact that we are angry at God. Bitterness is victimized anger. And sometimes [music] when bad things happen to good people, we get angry with God. Bitterness is dangerous because it will make you change your name, lose your story, and break your covenant with God. So [music] this morning, we're going to be praying in the area of bitterness.

Now, in the Bible, one of the more prominent stories about bitterness is found in the book of Ruth. Ruth is really about a woman named Naomi. She is the [music] central character in the book of Ruth. And the story starts out [music] that God has pronounced judgment on a people and he has [music] declared a

famine in the land. And so Naomi's husband Amilec took his family, avoided the judgment of God, and went [music] to a far-off country so that they could live, survive, be without famine, and come back when Bethlehem was in better conditions.
