And yet, Seneca presents us with a problem. He wrote some of the clearest and most

practical explanations of Stoic philosophy that we have. He taught it, defended it, and then refined it. But, when you look closely at his life, the alignment between his principles and his actions become far less certain. Today, I'm going to read through Letters from a Stoic by Seneca. I'll be examining his writings and the

tensions that they reveal. Along the way, I'll provide analysis to show the contrast between [music] what Seneca wrote and how he actually lived. Let's get into it. Letter two. Judging from what you tell me and from what I hear, I feel that you show great promise. You do not tear from place to place and
