Hello everyone, welcome once again to Administration 101. This time we'll be talking about what social organization is. We'll look at its main aspects, its characteristics, the different types of social organization that exist, and its importance in our current context. So, welcome everyone, and let's begin. First, let's remember what we 've already discussed: that an

organization, as such, has two main divisions: one as a social entity and the other as an administrative function. Regarding the administrative function, we've already talked about that part of the administrative process of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, where basically what it seeks is to organize the different tasks to achieve the objectives set in the

planning stage. Now, as a social entity, it also has a division: as an administrative entity and as a social structure, which we won't focus on for now. Let's take this part out of here. As a social entity, it's a social unit composed of people and intentionally constructed to achieve specific objectives. That's the

macro view of this part of the social entity, which is divided into two, as we saw before. So, let's understand that as a social entity, it's a group of people who come together with a purpose or with a common objective to obviously be able to achieve or reach it, taking into account that

general conception in the part of the social entity, then let's look now at the division you have seen previously in the part of the organization as an administrative entity, we believe that it is divided into formal and informal relationships. Now let's look at the other one, which is the one we are going to focus on, as we have said from the beginning, and that is as a social structure. In this sense, as a social structure and social organization, it is a system embedded in a broader,

larger one, which is society itself, and with which it interacts, and both mutually influence each other. That is to say, a social organization is the grouping of living beings, of people, that carries out, taking into account, for example, that These are the interests, ideas, tastes, and similar preferences among its members. The organization will always

pursue a particular objective, whether from a solidarity or group perspective, since there must always be a reason for its existence. Social organizations, to function, must have at least a group of people who share the same interests and sometimes a common goal. In this sense, various social organizations can be developed. For example, in relation to

business, a company can function as a social organization. In the family sphere, the organization obviously corresponds to the family; there is the educational center; there is the health sector. In education, it can be a university, a college, or a school; in health, it can be a health post, a clinic, or a hospital.

So, in this sense, this is what we understand of a social organization as a social structure. It is immersed in other systems. For example, there is a macro- system, and the subsystems are these social organizations that we were mentioning earlier. Depending on their characteristics, we had talked about business, health, and education. These subsystems are within—that is to

say, these social organizations are within a macro- system that surrounds them and that... They are mutually related to one another; there is constant interaction, not nothing, but a total dependence on one another. Now let's see what the main characteristics of a social organization are. First, we have its origin. It is a type of human grouping

that has existed with us since the beginning. Our instinct leads us, like most other living beings, to seek security in a group, in a place rather than being alone. In this way, the whole of human society operates as a gigantic social organization; it is the macro-system we mentioned, divisible in turn into cultures,

territories, and even into units as small as so-called tribes. However, the very essence, from the point of view of sociology, of social organization is the family. It is that basic and primordial part, that is, the first of all. In it, there are highly differentiated divisions of labor and a common objective that applies to the

whole group. The second characteristic is a specific purpose. As mentioned, social relations are always structured around the achievement of an end, an objective, whether it be survival, the administration of natural resources, or obtaining a benefit. This objective gives meaning to the Community has a reason to exist and operates collaboratively, thus distributing the necessary tasks to advance as a

whole towards success, more easily than if they were done separately. A third characteristic is structure and hierarchy: social organizations are structured and hierarchical entities since the distribution of tasks always requires a sector in charge of diligence and coordination, setting the different steps to follow and keeping efforts synchronized. Of course, there are varying degrees of complexity

within structures, since the functioning of a certain organization can become so demanding that it requires smaller or internal organizations, which in turn can relate to each other and achieve the desired objective. A fourth characteristic is synergistic pattern and interdependence: social organizations always generate a relationship of interdependence to the extent that the components of a social organization

specialize in a specific function necessary to advance towards the group's goal. They necessarily have to abandon other functions and delegate them in order to integrate into the system, thus generating a relationship of interdependence or need within the total network of interdependent relationships of a given organization. For example, The breakdown of some of these elements is called a synergistic pattern. This obviously implies the

interruption of the process and an increase in entropy within the system. Recall that entropy is the natural tendency towards destruction or death in any system. The fifth characteristic of an institution is the state. Insofar as the human system is organized and hierarchical in its pursuit of managing life in society, it is a perfect example of

complex social organization with multiple social organizations operating within it, each pursuing its own objectives, even if they sometimes seem contradictory. However, they all seek to achieve a common goal. These organizations are called institutions and are responsible for various specific matters. Within the dynamics of government, there are different types of institutions, obviously according to the interests they pursue.

For example, there are political, religious, educational, family, economic, professional, and legal institutions. In short, we have our seven characteristics. Forms of social organization exist. There are as many forms of social organization as there are specific social contexts, since they are structures created to solve a problem or address a shared need of some kind among

the members of that society or group. This range of interests can extend from animal rescue to the care of... From the maintenance of road infrastructure or city park infrastructure to things as complex as the state, the government, or the world's largest financial corporations, the seventh characteristic is resistance to disorder. Every social organization

survives by resisting the growth of disorder within itself. The loss of guiding objectives and the abandonment of the founding structure are possible processes that increase entropy, as we have already explained, or disorganization. If this is not addressed in time, it will end in the breakdown or collapse of the social order. For example, anarchy is a type of what

we are talking about. In the case of the dissolution of the state or a revolution, if order is re- established under a hierarchical sign or established structures, it can be re-established. However, if this is dismantled or destroyed, these types of governments or anarchist authorities emerge. Well, everyone forms their own opinion. And finally, among the

characteristics of social hibernation, we have variety, which is the measure of the complexity of a system. Variety arises from the range of possible behaviors its members can exhibit. This also allows us to predict that the greater the variety within a society, the more complex it will be, and therefore, the more difficult it will be to

control or predict its behavior. Responses are mechanisms through which the possible behaviors of two participants in a social organization can be reduced. These mechanisms for these responses are known as variety reducers, and for the most part, they correspond to organizing principles embedded in the social organizations that constitute living beings. For example, we have

laws in general, state, governmental, and local laws, institutional regulations, religious commandments, codes of ethics, health standards, or policies. In short, these are the eight characteristics of social organization. We continue with the types of organization: we have substantive organizations, closed social organizations, open social organizations, and trade unions. Let's look at each of these. Substantive organizations: this type of

organization seeks to improve social conditions that are closely related to daily life, for example, gender relations, cultural organizations, sports organizations, religious organizations, and so on. And closed social organizations: here, one only reaches [Music] to accept certain members of the organization or the organization that responds to a specific sector, for example, the workers of company

registration of any member without distinction; that is, any person can belong to this type of organization without any specific or basic condition. They are accepted regardless of their gender, regardless of their social status, regardless of, well, those other standards that in closed social societies are very important. We have trade union social organizations;

these organizations are developed when they seek to improve the economic level of each of their members. An example of this type of organization are commercial associations, for example, such as chambers of commerce, labor unions, sectoral associations, industrial associations, etc. We continue with another type of social organization; we have functional, territorial, local, and solidarity economy organizations.

As for the functional ones, these organizations manage to solve certain problems and needs while at the same time showing a certain interest that affects certain sectors of The population, for example, includes consumer leagues and professional associations. We have territorial social organizations; this type of organization is created by bringing together the area where the people in

question live, seeking to improve their quality of life. Examples of this type of organization include self-construction committees and regional corporations. We also have local social organizations, such as community contracting, mayoral offices, and health posts—all those located in the locality where the person lives. These are somewhat smaller than territorial organizations, which we could even say

are included as a division or subsystem of the territorial ones. Finally, we have solidarity economy organizations. These organizations can be, for example, comprehensive, which are those that develop more than two complementary activities, such as consumption, production, service provision, etc. We also have specialized organizations, which are those that focus on a single branch,

distinguishing between economic activity and service. In this type of activity, the aim is to fulfill the benefit of its members or the community in general, whether in the education sector or the health sector. In the financial sector, the transportation sector, the cultural sector, etc., multi-active organizations develop several similar activities simultaneously, such as

consumption, savings, and credit, for example, marketing. Finally, production refers to those solidarity economy organizations that accelerate certain activities of exploitation or extraction of non-renewable resources or accelerate their transformation to obtain a final product.
