The TRUE Meaning of the Parable of the Prodigal Son | Sam Shamoun

Okay, what about the prodical son? Someone asked me to break it down. The story of the prodical son is found in Luke 15. Okay, now we're not going to read it, but you get the story. Let me tell you how it reflects the heart of God. Okay, now the prodical son, the story of the prodical son. Let me just

again sum up the prodical son. This is Luke 15. You have two sons. An older son who's committed to his father and he's faithful to his father. You have a younger son who is lazy, who is carnal, lustful, gluttonous, right? A hedonist. He tells his father, "Give me my share of the inheritance." And then he leaves

and he squanders it on a hedonistic lifestyle. Hedonism is a life of pleasure, of of feasting, of partying, of drinking, of revalry, of orgies, right? until he finally went broke, hit rock bottom, found out he had no true friends, they're only his friends as long as he had money, and then hit the lowest of the low, hit rock

bottom because out of desperation to survive, he started working in a pixie. Now, I'm going to help you understand how deep this saying is because you have to put yourself in the shoes of a first century Jew. Understand what Jesus is saying in light of its historical cultural background. The worst thing that a Jew could do is work in a pigsty

work cleaning pigs, dirty animals, swine, which Jews were forbidden from eating. Are you with me there? He hit rock bottom. He hit the lowest point imaginable for a Jew. working in a pigsty, cleaning dirty animals, animals forbidden in the law of Moses, showing that he was even dirtier than this pig. Are you with me there? It's on Luke 15.
