Open your Bible with me to 2 Samuel, chapter 12. 2 Samuel, chapter 12,

verse 15. We will read it later today. Amen. Amen. Glory to God. I'll walk quickly here. I'm fast now, you know, brother? Finishing early. I'm even scared of myself. Let's go. Second Samuel, chapter 12, verse 15, says: "And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and it became very ill.

David pleaded with God for the child and fasted. He came and lay all night on the ground. The elders of his household came to him to raise him up from the ground, but he refused and would not eat with them. On the seventh day the child died, and David's servants were afraid to tell him that

the child was dead, for they said, 'While the child was still alive, we spoke to him, but he would not listen to us .'" How then can we tell him that the child is dead? Why should he grieve any longer?" But David saw that the servants were whispering to one another and understood that

the child was dead, so he said to his servants, "Is the child dead?" They answered, "He is dead." Then David arose from the ground. Then David arose from the ground, [music] washed himself, anointed himself, changed his clothes, went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his house, asked for bread, and it was set before him,

and he ate. Now I read verse 24. Then David went to Bathsheba, comforted her, and lay with her. [music] She had a son, whom David named Solomon, and the Lord loved him. David entrusted him to the prophet Nathan, who named him Gideah, beloved of the Lord, for the Lord's sake. Amen, brothers and sisters.
