Welcome to the second meeting of this blessed course in the Simplified Jurisprudence Book. We ask Allah to
accept our good deeds and yours. Last time, we began with a strong start, discussing the importance of seeking knowledge, the importance of intention, and the necessity of acting upon knowledge. We discussed the arrangement of the book, or the general structure of jurisprudence, the meaning of jurisprudence, and its proofs. We discussed the Quran, Sunnah, consensus, analogy, and theology.
Then, relying on Allah, the Exalted, we began. In the first book, the Book of Purification, we learned the meaning of purification: the removal of ritual impurity and the elimination of filth. We discussed what removal and elimination mean, and then we talked about impurities, their types, how Islamic law deals with them, and the degrees of
impurity. Some impurities require specific washing, such as the impurity of a dog that has licked a vessel. For moderate or ordinary impurities, a large amount of water is sufficient, such as urine and feces. For minor impurities, purification is achieved by sprinkling or wiping. We discussed this matter in detail. Then we talked about the
type of water used for purification: pure water. What is pure water? It is water that remains in its original state, meaning it is as God created it. Like wells, springs, rainwater, and so on. Seawater is included because it remains in its original state. We said that purification, which is the removal of ritual impurity, must be achieved with pure water. It is not valid with impure water,
