What French People Listen To: Music Vocabulary and Real Conversations

Hello friends and welcome to a new episode of Iy French. Today we're going to talk about music because June 21st is Fête de la Musique, a very popular event where amateur and professional musicians play in the streets, in bars and in public squares. So today, we're going to ask the French about their musical tastes. Here we go

. [Music] What kind of music do you listen to? Uh , I listen to a lot of rappers, rappers like Tacola, Gazo, Niska, [ __ ], now I really like Genesio. Uh, and that's good. Yeah. What kind of music do you listen to? Um, a little bit of everything. With a slight preference for rock and hip hop.

Do you have any favorite French-speaking artists? Uh yes, Fuchton, Marguerite, Stromay and I've already done a first round but I think I have plenty of others. What kind of music do you listen to? [grunt] So, I mostly listen to French rap, jazz, English rock and bossa nova. So. eclectic. It's very eclectic. Yes, eclectic.

And do you have any favorite French-speaking artists? [grunt] Uh, right now, I admit, it was Theodora, it's not very original. Um, who else? Uh, French. [grunt] No, it was Odora. Yeah. OK. different things from classical music, electronic music, folk music, well, what interests me is that it's new too, that it's new. So I listen to a lot of things I don't know out of curiosity. I tend to listen to psychedelic rock or progressive rock. What is psychedelic rock? It's a world that we'll find in the

60s where it mixes sounds that are perhaps a little bit new for the time with the appearance of new instruments and so on.
