1 John 4:8, 1 John 4:16 says God is love. He is love. He is true love. He is the definition of love. And the Bible teaches us that true love is sacrificial. To be truly loving is to give yourself away to someone else. To love someone else and benefit someone else and bless someone else.
That's true love. That's how the Bible defines it. Okay the Bible is clear. Love is not something that oppresses. That's tyrannical, controlling and abusive. You can read that in 1 Corinthians 13:1- 7. Pay attention please. I need you to pay attention. So Father, Son, Holy Spirit have been in love with one another before creation.
They have loved and continued to love one another with an infinite love. A perfect love, a love that cannot be added to or subtracted from. A love that's unchangeable and perfect. So Father, Son, Spirit have everything they need among themselves. They don't need anything outside of themselves to love or be loved. They have no need.
They are content within themselves. Because they have loved one another with a perfect love. A love that cannot increase or decrease. Cannot be improved on. And a love that's unchangeable. They are in love with one another. And their very nature is love. But out of their love they wanted to create a world.
This is the story of the Bible. I need you to listen to this. A world in which creatures would exist who would have rationality and choice to choose to love this God who's in love with them. Remember I said the very nature of love and it's in 1 Corinthians 13:1-7? It cannot be coercive.
It cannot be oppressive. It cannot be tyrannical. And cannot enslave you and make you do what the lover wants you to do. That is tyranny. That is oppression. So God by his very nature does not oppress. He's not tyrannical. He's not abusive. Because he is love. The epitome of love. I need you to listen to this.
