Yes. 10 laser scanners for a head-to-head comparison, all capturing data in the same area using [music] the same control and under the same conditions. It actually did a really good job with max residuals in each of the northing, easting, and vertical axes of 11, 8, and 10 mm. It's almost impressive how bad
this scanner is doing to be honest. This is essentially useless data, nothing but noise. I was very pleasantly surprised with this scanner. And this was a competition after all, not everyone can win. When a surveyor is shopping for a total station, there's a very easy way to compare the accuracy of one unit to
another. ISO, or the International Organization for Standardization, has created strict testing guidelines each manufacturer can follow to determine the accuracy of the various measurements their instrument makes. This way, when I'm looking at the spec sheet of a Trimble S7, I can directly compare it apples-to-apples to a Leica TS20. And I can even read and follow the ISO specs
that govern the angular or distance accuracy to perform my own testing and ensure the instrument is operating within its given specification. And to take it a step further, I can even use error propagation to statistically estimate the accuracy of a derived point coordinate based on those ISO specifications, among other variables. In the world of laser scanning though,
we don't have this luxury. There are no ISO specs or equivalent that are widely used and compare the range or angular accuracy of a 3D scanner. ISO 17123-9 does cover terrestrial scanners, but not at the same individual component level that we get from a total station. And forget trying to use air propagation to
