well chapter one of the our textbook uh is like a lot of typical chapter ones it has a lot of introductory material in it that you know you're not going to learn about until later and so what I've decided to do for this um for this video is just talk about some of the points in
chapter one that are General and introduce you to the class I also like to use this video and to show you how I would like you to be taking notes when you are in class or when you're watching these videos so I will start this way and show you the best I just think this is the most
effective way of um of taking notes so also you should know this says slide six because I actually have these slides as a part of a larger a larger package so it doesn't really doesn't really matter what number it is so a lot of people call this uh course IEEE 380 they call
it the stats class but really it's a statistics and a probability course so I kind of want to make that point So eventually we're going to get to statistics and that's really the latter two-thirds of the course but and that's um when we start dealing with actual pieces of data or data however you want
to say it we're going to be using that data data to make decisions foreign to solve problems so we have a lot of these slides like this where you're going to be filling in the blanks and um that's I like active note taking okay and we're going to use the data so that we can design products
and processes and keep costs um low and quality High so we're going to be using these statistical techniques so that we can understand this concept of variability and so that's just the title of the site you know what I have an expletive on this pen that I don't want you to see so
