I engineers in this video we're going to talk about Airway resistance it's going to be a pretty simple pretty straightforward Common Sense kind of video let's go ahead and do it anyway just to really make sense of this concept because it is integral to the entire concept of the respiratory system all right so how do we first off when we

talk about air resistance we really need to define a formula that's going to help us throughout this entire process okay this formula is actually going to be specifically for flow right for gas flow so we're going to write here for flow for gas flow here we'll even be more specific we'll put gas flow since we're

talking about gases for the respiratory system all right so gas flow is equal to right it's equal to the change in pressure over resistance okay so as gas flow is equal to the change in the pressure over the resistance so now what we're going to do is we're going to try to go ahead and explain how pressure

changes the gas flow and then we're going to express how resistance changes the gas flow first off let's go ahead and just derive this mathematical formula and understand that and then we'll explain those differences so first off let's go ahead and see how pressure affects gas flow so in this one let's determine the relationship between

pressure and I'm going to put here flow but understand that it is for gas flow okay so now let's look at this actual relationship here think for a second if I were to let's say that this number remains remained constant let's say that it was two all right and I have the pressure set at originally I have it set

at two right but then I switch it so let's say I I change this pressure and I increase the pressure well if I increase the pressure let's say I increased it to four but I keep the resistance constant at two what happened well this was originally one and this went to two so
