We have made countless attempts, tried every technique we could find, and kept pushing it to get closer to what we imagined. Some developers eventually gave up on realism and changed the entire visual direction of
their game. Because when you're perfectionist, close enough just isn't enough. But let's remember what we are working with. It's called Unreal Engine. So why don't we use it to make something unreal? I am the developer of plug-in called IHP, implicit height field projection. Such a boring name and I believe it's the most powerful tool
available today for creating displacement like surfaces. And I'm still improving it. But what does that actually mean for your game? How good does it look? How do you use it?
