[Music] Greetings from Coşkun Öz Education Foundation. I am Hüseyin Irmak. In this video, I will explain how the concepts of value and waste are defined in the lean manufacturing system. If we look at our video content, it's about lean manufacturing. The fundamental principles of lean manufacturing are value, value stream, continuous flow, pull system, and
excellence. What is value? What is 3M? What is waste? What is Ohna's circle? I will conclude by summarizing and explaining how to see.
We call lean manufacturing, or lean thinking, the process of delivering value continuously from the raw materials to the end customer without any interruption. There are five fundamental principles of lean thinking. These are value, value stream, continuous flow, pull system, and excellence. If we define
value, we call it a product or service that meets a customer's needs at a certain price and within a certain timeframe, and for which they are willing to pay. This is the textbook explanation. To explain this in a simpler way, let 's evaluate it using a pie chart. If we consider our pie chart as the process from supplier to customer, our smallest
slice represents value. So what is this value? For us, value lies in the moment the press shapes the part, or in the moment a welding machine makes the weld . Or, for us, that moment is when a machining tool, a lathe or milling machine, removes the burr, or for us, it is when a textile machine
throws its shuttle. The second largest slice of our cake is our unavoidable waste. In other words, these are the activities we must necessarily undertake in order to obtain value, to gain value . We can define setup activities as similar to quality control activities . The biggest slice of our cake is waste. The Japanese define waste as 3Ms.
