Houdini Modelling Sculpting and Texturing rocks

hey folks so I've been taking a look at the sculps note in Houdini and I've just been playing around with the idea of balancing off our modeling needs versus our texturing needs and here are some of the outputs of those experiments early outputs to do kind of rock like shapes so I'd like to take a look at some of

that workflow today now I won't be making these particular ones today I'm going to do a simpler version of it so we're going to make something a little bit more like this but it'll give you an idea of some of the workflows I'm using all right let's dive into a new version of oudini and I'm going to hit Tab and

type box taller in y just so we get more like a kind of a pillar so because I'm going to be balancing off my model with texturing we're going to need to have decent UVS really if I was uh trying to keep clean UVS here I would use a UV flatten and I'm going to put my access

up to six um just because I'm going to deform my box in a minute and I'll need some polygons for doing that back over my UV flat and then what I'd like to end up with is a t-shape uh so I'm just going to show you the shape that we need to select first uh so this is you can

see highlighted in green the edges that we need to select for our seam and this will unfold into this t-shape uh that I just mentioned right so I don't do a lot of UV unwrapping in Houdini but the UV flatten uh is the the main node for doing it uh and the trick is to select a

node and hit enter over the viewport and that should put you in this double view right so now you're actually selecting the seams and you need to get them to go green so you can hold shift and you can start adding and you'll see that it starts unfolded over here so it's it's
