Hello everybody. Welcome to chapter 6 uh where we'll be discussing about the basic hardware components that are needed to build a processor from scratch. So what we have done up till now in the last few chapters is that we have looked at what bits can do. How do we use bits to represent integers,
numbers, pieces of text? Then we have looked at three kinds of assembly languages in chapters 3, four and five. Uh the basic simple risk assembly language, ARM assembly and uh x86 assembly. Now given the fact that we have a decent idea of what assembly languages are, we want to build an actual processor. So to
build an actual pro processor uh what we would be discussing in this chapter is essentially the building blocks [snorts] of uh actual processors. So uh I want to repeat once again that this is chapter six of the book computer organization architecture. Uh this has been published by McGraill in 2015. So let me start with an outline of this
chapter. So this chapter is divided into four sections. The first section uh discusses the most basic building blocks of circuits which are transistors and logic gates. Then we discuss combinational logic which is uh basically creates larger circuits by combining these basic elements which are logic gates. Subsequently we shall discuss sequential logic. So in
sequential logic uh we save uh we store individual bits and then we use uh these individual bits uh in circuits. [snorts] Finally we'll discuss SRAMM and DM cells. Uh so so these are the memory elements inside a processor. We can store data here. We can store bits and bytes. So SRAMs and DAMs are two very
