In everyday conversation we tend to mix both

concepts thinking that they are similar or alike, but they are not. There are concepts like nation, nationality, and Argentinian identity that are always present and appear in school events and sporting events. However, their meanings have a long history and are not obvious. In this video, we will address what a nation is, how a nation is historically defined

, what differences it has with a state structure, with what we commonly call the State, and how, in the case of the Argentine nation, this notion of nationality was constructed during the 19th century onwards . As we said, state and nation are not synonymous. Talking about the State refers to political institutions. We are talking about

specific political institutions. Congress, the Executive Branch, the judiciary. But talking about a nation implies thinking about society, thinking about citizenship, and thinking about a people. Groups that share an identity, a sense of belonging, a desire to be together for some reason that transcends a small group of people. We are talking about common symbols, symbols with which we

can all identify. There are two main approaches to nation. Firstly, the nation as a community of traits and secondly, the nation as a historical phenomenon that unfolds over time.
