hey there fabulous dancer and thank you so much for joining me for this seven day beginner belly dance jump start welcome to day one today begins your adventure your journey in this incredible folkloric dance that i have known and loved and performed for the last 21 years and i am so excited to
share it with you today so today we get a little bit of a twofer we're going to go ahead and take a bit of time to talk about basic belly dance posture which is incredibly important when you get started dancing because the right posture will help you to accomplish the movements more easily and avoid injury
both of which we are very serious about here so i'm going to take you through the posture and then we are going to look at weighted hip lifts the movements you are going to see in this series are part of what i consider the foundational elements of belly dance and as members in my belly dance experience know
because we talk about it all the time the foundational elements are kind of like our lego building blocks to build everything else that you might learn in this dance so they're incredibly important and wonderful to learn and review as you proceed in your dance journey so let's go ahead and get started let's look at our posture first
we're going to build it from the ground up your feet are going to be about hip width apart when i say hip width it's like your hip bone so not the outside of your hip but your hip bones feet are right underneath them facing forward like the number 11. we're going to have
our knees and toes in alignment and while we belly dance almost always we're going to have a tiny little micro bend in our knees so a tiny little bit of a bend in our knee not a deep plie but just a little bit of a bend so if you pull your knees all the way back to
