Strik ombukket kant

Here I have a neck edge for a sweater, which is meant to be sewn to the edge down here later on, so it becomes a folded neck edge. And instead of sewing it down at the end, I want to show you how you can knit it together with your work, so you avoid the finishing work at the end.

It is a method that I have used here. As you can see, it gives a slightly nicer finish. I have used the same method on my Oslohue. I am here, at the beginning of the round, and am about to knit a round. If your pattern says that you have to change needle size on the first round after the rib, then you just grab a new needle of the correct size, but in this case I am not doing that.

I have to fold the neck edge like this, so I just take a look at the wrong side, and my first stitch is a knit stitch, and I have my thread here from the cast on. And then I have a purl stitch here, which is wrong side version of my knit stitch here,

so I grab by cast on edge here, and slip it onto my left needle. Like that. And then I knit those two together. Then I go look at the next one, which should be a knit stitch, because I have a purl stitch on the needle, here. And I grab the cast on edge and knit them together.

You just have to tighten the work a bit. Then my next stitch is a purl stitch, I grab the cast on edge, place it on the needle and knit the two stitches together. Then I have a purl stitch here, and a knit stitch here.

And knit them together. And them you can see how they are knitted together, here on the wrong side. Very nice. If you find it a bit difficult to see which stitch is the next stitch while you are knitting, or if you are knitting something in stockinette stitch - that can make it extra tricky -
