In the name of the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, Amen. I would like to begin with you a series of lectures about the Passion of Christ. The first thing we will talk about in the Passion of Christ is that the Lord Jesus Christ lived a life of suffering, not just a week called Holy Week,

but his entire life was suffering. It was even said of him in the Book of Isaiah the Prophet that he was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. It was also said of him that in suffering he was tempted, he was able to help those who are tempted. And when a person suffers for righteousness' sake, the

Apostle says that it is a sharing in the sufferings of Christ, and that we suffer with him. The Lord Jesus Christ did not walk the path of mercy, nor did he enter through the wide gate, but rather he lived in suffering from his childhood. He was born poor on a cold night, without blankets or clothing.

In his childhood, he was threatened with death by Herod, and his mother was forced to flee with him to Egypt. He lived in the house of a poor carpenter, and then lived for about 30 years unknown to people; no one knew anything about his history. When he began his ministry, he began with nothing.

Even when they came to demand taxes from him, he had no money to pay. He had no home and no place to go. He rests his head and experiences all kinds of pain. He experiences hunger, thirst, and fatigue. When we say he experiences hunger, we mean real hunger, not like someone who's half an hour late for their meal and

says, "I'm hungry." The Bible doesn't say Christ experienced hunger until after forty days of fasting, so it was a hunger beyond human endurance. When he thirsted on the cross, almost all his blood had been drained. When he thirsted when he met the Samaritan woman, it was after walking for hours. He experienced fatigue and the pain of
