Looking For The Grave of Oscar Goings "The Romantic Negro"

What is going on YouTube? Lamont at large today. We are at the Cherry Grove Cemetery here in Xenia, Ohio. Now, I am going to be upfront for today's video. I may not be able to find a grave of the person that I'm looking for. I've been out here for about maybe 20 30 minutes

trying to find it. I have not found it yet. I was saying, you know what? I guess I won't be doing the story. However, this is a story I seen last night. I was looking at newspapers.com and I was just looking up old news stories and I found a story that was in

my opinion, cuz I got a an odd sense of humor. I found it pretty funny and pretty ridiculous what happened. And so right now I'm going to tell you the story of Oscar Goings, a negro Romeo, who was arrested and put in prison for in a sense being what we call today a

catfish. It's a very interesting and funny story. So, I'm going to tell you the story. I'm going to be looking around for his grave. Hopefully, I find it. I'm not going to lie. I don't think I'll be able to find it, but I'm going to try again. So, let's talk about the curious

case of Oscar Goings. Okay, so let's talk about what it was like to be black in the 1800s. Now, we all know the terribly painful history of slavery and it was all kinds of bad. And after slavery was over, things got better for black folks. Not in the South. Definitely in the north.

But then again, to be black in those days, even if you were in the north, up here in Ohio, it was not easy to be black. So, you have one Oscar Goings who's born March 27th, 1880 here in Xenia, Ohio. Uh he has a mother and a father. They have four kids. He's one of the four.
