The easiest way to spot an inexperienced founder is to look at the amount of customer discovery that they've done before they launch their startup. Let's take two imaginary founders and compare them side by side. Founder one decides that they want to launch a startup, they find a problem that they like and they want to solve,

and then they start building a product immediately for their version of the problem. They then push this product out and then they wonder why no one is starting to buy it and no one wants to use it. Then let's take founder two. They spend all their time speaking with potential customers about how they experience the problem,

how they feel about the pain, and if someone was to try and solve this problem and bring something valuable, what would that potentially look like? They then take all of this feedback and start putting it into a very, very basic version of the product, and they start putting it out and asking for people to pay.

If you're an investor, which founder would you pick? I think the answer is pretty simple and straightforward.
