Take it personal. At this age, people are 100% aware. For years, advice was don't take it personal. They're probably going through something. They didn't mean it. And you know what? Back in the days when we were young, sure, people were careless, we were immature, and we were hurting each other without realizing it.

But today, we are grown. They knew it would hurt you. They waited it. And they did it anyway. That is a decision. They knew you actually needed them and they chose to disappear. They knew that would cut deep in you and they said it anyway. They understood your worth and decided to treat you like you didn't have any.

So, yes, I want you to take it personally. Not so you can hold on to any anger. But so you can finally believe people the first time they show you who they are. The reason we keep getting hurt by the same people over and over is we keep excusing on purpose behavior as an oops.

We give grown adults the same pass we even give a child these days. So I needed to stop it. At this age, the way somebody treats you is a choice they're making about how much you matter to them. And I want you to believe that choice every single time from the first time.
