Why is Che Gueira one of the most famous people in the world? Why do millions of people still admire him even almost 60 years after his death? It all started with a young man from Argentina who wanted to become a doctor. In 1951, at just 23 years old, Che Gueira set off on a motorcycle journey across South America with his friend.

As they travelled through countries like Chile and Peru, he witnessed extreme poverty, hunger and inequality. He visited remote villages and saw millions of people struggling to survive. He believed he had to fight the system that in his eyes was causing their suffering. A few years later, he joined Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution and helped go through Cuba's

dictatorship in 1959. After the revolution, he became one of the key leaders of Cuba's new government, helping introduce land reforms, expand education and healthcare and representing Cuba all around the world. But instead of staying in power, he resigned. He traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo to support another revolution and later secretly entered Bolivia to start another one.

During the Cold War, the USA helped the Bolivian army track him down. In 1967, at just 39 years old, Che Gueira was captured and killed in Bolivia. But his story didn't end there. Nearly 60 years after his death, he is still the most famous face of communism. His face is printed on millions of t-shirts, posters and flags all across the world.
