The corporate baddies are saying that if you work for a senior black woman, you will either experience heaven or hell. A couple of years ago, I nearly lost my job. At the time, I was on my graduate rotation scheme with the bank. I was a branch manager and I was also a little YouTube baddie, okay? I used to make YouTube videos.

I made a YouTube video about my life as a banker. In that particular video, I had compared investment bankers, commercial bankers, and retail bankers. What I ultimately said was that retail bankers were on the lower earning spectrum in comparison to the other two bankers. That was interpreted as me dissing everybody in the branch network.

All hell broke loose. I was being called into disciplinary action. Nobody liked me. And honestly, I don't even know how that interpretation came about, but somebody didn't like. Every senior manager was calling me and very much on my case. I was sending apologies and essentially going through this really traumatic time.
