At first glance, this seems absurd, the most online generation in human history becoming fascinated by a 2,000-year-old institution. But look closer. None podcasts are trending. And you are so good at that. Catholic influencers are gaining millions
of views. Padre Guillaume, a Portuguese priest with 2.7 million Instagram followers, is DJing raves at Christ the Redeemer in cathedral squares across the world. Pope Leo XIV just published a 42,000 word treatise calling AI one of the defining moral battles of our age. And everywhere online, you'll find crusader edits, saint core aesthetics, rosaries, incense, cathedral content.
So what's happening? Historically, periods of uncertainty create periods of spiritual revival. When the world becomes difficult to understand, people start looking for things that feel permanent, even eternal. And right now, permanence is in very short supply. AI is changing work, social media is changing identity, dating is changing relationships, and technology is changing faster than most people can process. So Catholicism offers something many modern
institutions no longer can. Certainty, community, ritual, meaning. But here's what I find most interesting. I don't think all of these people are actually becoming Catholic. I think they're just becoming curious. Because in a world of infinite information, meaning becomes scarce. Maybe Gen Z isn't rediscovering Catholicism. Maybe they're just rediscovering the human need
