You told me about the lucky cigarette. You flip one upside down in a new pack, saving it to smoke last, symbolizing a wish being granted. You told me it can be a trick when you want to kiss a girl at a bar. She asks for a smoke, and as you hand her the final one,
you say, now I'm granted a wish. And when she asks what you wish for, you say to kiss you. I laughed at that insecurely and flipped a cigarette in my own pack. You used it as a flirtation move, but do you know where the myth began? It originated among soldiers in World War II, hoping to survive the fight for their land.
It symbolized the simple hope of holding the empty pack in your hand. We didn't survive long enough for me to finish mine. And now I'm left with my last cigarette that I don't know what to wish for. For you to reply to my last text. For you to feel a little sorry for how you handled things at the end.
Should I wish for you to leave me alone or for us to talk it through to see each other again and learn what things were fake and which were true? I bought a new pack today, but the old one remains in the corner of my room. So tell me now, what do I do with my lucky cigarette?
