What if he told you this Mumbai museum exists because a man simply ran out of space at home? Back in the 1920s, this one man kept collecting artifacts brought in through Mumbai's trade with China, crystalline, antiques and pieces from across the world, so much that even his 11 -room house couldn't handle it anymore. Firozak Woodridge puts it, he even started sleeping in his kitchen just to make space. That man was Ramji Dada Boy Alpayewala, a Parsi bullion merchant and antique collector from the early 20th century. This collection went on to become the Alpaywala Museum, further enriched by scholars and artifacts from across regions. And this Saturday, we're heading there to explore the Parsi community up close.
