If you ever felt like you're hard to love, this is for you. I grew up thinking love should be easy and effortless, like when you meet the right person, everything just flows. But that hasn't been my experience, because the truth is, none of us are convenient. There are days when I'm irritated by everything,
days when I feel just so off in my own body and I can't explain why, and days where I basically just feel unlovable. Then I came across this Substack article, which explains maybe love wasn't supposed to be easy in the first place. Because we're all still learning about ourselves, what triggers us, what we need, what we are healing from.
And somehow we expect another person to walk into all of that and never get overwhelmed and basically navigate our own emotions. But that's delusional. Real love is when someone can see the worst sides of you but still choose to walk with you in life. Because you believe in each other and the connection that you're building.
And love is not flawless, it's awkward conversations, repeated misunderstandings, and learning each other very slowly. It's about choosing someone not just when they're easy to love, but when they're distant, overwhelmed, and hard to read. And the article puts it perfectly, what makes the connection last is not compatibility, it's willingness. Willingness to understand and willingness to stay curious.
The messy emotions are just part of what makes us human. And the right kind of love isn't the one that feels convenient and easy. It's the one that makes you feel safe, just being the flawed human being you are.
