You might have noticed more men caring about their appearance, but in parts of Asia, that's the standard. In countries like South Korea, China, and Japan, grooming is seen as the norm. Clear skin, neat brows, and good hair. How you present yourself shows your respect of others, and how well you fit into the environment.
This is where the psychology differs. Western culture favors individualism, and aesthetics is often about standing out and self-expression. But in Asian cultures, it's about looking balanced and effortlessly put together. We're starting to see that influence globally. There's a shift from rugged hyper-masculine features towards something softer and more refined. Think K-pop influence, glass skin, lighter textures, subtle enhancements.
Skin care and non-invasive treatments for men are on the rise because they're becoming more socially acceptable. And I'm seeing this in clinic as well, which is great because good aesthetics is about celebrating and supporting what is already there.
