ADHD and addiction are closely linked and here's why. ADHD affects dopamines, the brain's reward chemical. When dopamine runs low, the brain automatically looks for fast relief. Alcohol, drugs, gambling or even risky behaviour can create calm or focus for a short time. For someone with ADHD, that can feel like finally switching the brain off or the noise stops.

Addiction isn't a weakness, often it's self-medication. When ADHD is properly understood and treated, the risk of addiction drops. I tell my clients every day, treat the brain professionally, not just the behavior. Think about it.
